Help us build biodigester toilets for Destiny Junior School
At IRFF UK, we’re dedicated to making a real difference in communities where help is needed the most. Right now, Destiny Junior School in Kibiri, Uganda, urgently needs your support to build biodigester toilets for their young students. This project is critical to improving health and sanitation for 109 infants aged 3 to 6 years old.
The problem: An outdated and unsafe pit latrine
For over 12 years, Destiny Junior School’s infants have been using an old pit latrine that was never designed to serve this many children. Originally built for a small family, it has been filled and emptied several times. Now, local health inspectors have declared it unsafe to continue using.
- Shared by 109 children: 60 boys and 49 girls in the infant class alone. - Health hazards: Increased risk of diseases like dysentery. - Distance challenge: Children struggle to reach other toilets in time, often soiling their uniforms before they get there.
The solution: A sustainable biodigester toilet
We are committed to transforming this situation by installing a biodigester toilet system. This eco-friendly solution breaks down waste safely and turns it into biogas that can be used for cooking or heating.
The system will provide:
- Hygienic and accessible facilities for infants, teachers, and persons with disabilities. - Long-term benefits with easy maintenance. - Improved health conditions by preventing the spread of dangerous diseases.
Why it matters: The health of the children is at stake
The headteacher at Destiny Junior School has made a passionate plea:
“The health of our children is critical, and the current facilities are not fit for purpose. These children need our help to ensure a safer, healthier environment.”
With your help, we can act before the situation worsens and provide these young children with the sanitary facilities they deserve.
How you can help: Donate today!
This project cannot succeed without your generous donations. By contributing to the construction of the biodigester toilets, you will:
- Directly impact the health and well-being of 109 children. - Ensure long-lasting, sustainable facilities for the school. - Help prevent future health crises in the Kibiri community.
Whether large or small, your donation will have a lasting impact. Together, we can ensure these children have a safe and clean place to go, improving their overall quality of life.
We aim to have these toilets completed before the school breaks for the long third term Christmas holiday. But we need your support now to make it happen.
Act now: Your support is urgently needed
Donate now and be part of this life-changing project. Help us provide safe, sustainable toilets for Destiny Junior School. Your generosity today can build a healthier tomorrow for these children.
